Significance of the Park
In 1978 the UNESCO declared Nahanni National Park the world's first World Heritage site.
The Nahanni National Park is a reserve that protects the plants and animals within it from hunters.
Within the park there is the Nahanni River. It is one of the most amazing rivers in North America because it consists of deep canyons, giant waterfalls, caves, hotsprings and it has a cool terrain that was formed by water dissolving the minerals over millions of years.
